We bought our first house y'all!
I don't know where to start, but let's just say that this milestone was a long time coming! John and I would go to open houses with Aniyah before I ever thought of going into real estate. We'd narrow down our favorite neighborhoods and studied the market, but we weren't financially ready yet. If you're from LA then you know that the cost of living isn't cheap! We could have moved elsewhere and purchased a lot sooner, but we made the decision to make it happen in LA. We knew that we'd be homeowners in the future and couldn't wait to customize our first home! We have always been realistic about the fact that our first home wouldn't be our dream home. but it'd be the first step to reaching it. We started preparing to begin the homebuying journey and then in 2019 we took the plunge and finally sent over our documentation so our lender could help us develop a solid plan to prepare for homeownership! After a lot of planning, dedication, an amazing realtor (shameless plug lol), and God's grace we became homeowners y'all! We closed escrow just before Thanksgiving 2019, but we had to get some projects done before officially moving in. The home was perfect for us... liveable, but needs cosmetic updates, so we get to customize things! We had enough of the house completed to show the girls their bedroom just in time for Christmas, we were able to spend our first night in our new home on Christmas Eve! Seeing the girls reaction when they saw their bedroom all set up for the first time was one of the best feelings as a parent!
